the truth abt mtbikers

It has been a dry spell lately, given the monumental tasks ahead.
Just wanted to share what Paul came up with...a candy list of why having a partner who rides is cool.

That bulge isn’t just the chamois.
Balls of steel.
We can go for hours and hours even when it hurts.
We know how to take it easy.
We know not to go real hard right from the beginning.
Smoother legs than you.
Skin tight lycra is real easy to take off.
Can you say perfectly sculpted legs?
Better power-to-weight ratio than a small car.
We don’t need booths to get our amazing tan…lines.
Perfect ass.
Diamond cut calves.
Incredible thigh definition.
Who else can perform for over 5 hours a day for 20 consecutive days?
When it gets hard, we find a rhythm and pound away.
We go hard and push until it gets even harder.
Some days we feel the need to attack, explore, and adventure.
We know that everything needs to be properly lubricated before it can be used to its full potential.
Even when we’re about to explode, we can always hang on a little bit longer.
We always have water bottles and snacks laying around for those those times when it gets real long.

Now...that's really all quite true...

Chasing daylight

Funny how i blogged about dreams last night and they start coming to haunt me. Every night, some place, some people I know in my life come together and they stage some strange play. It's like a warning. It's like a reminder. And it deprives me of quality sleep.

You know something is wrong when you sleep 10 hours a day and you still feel tired the morning after. Or alternatively, you could survive on just 4 hours of sleep and feel as hyper as a Duracell bunny the whole of the next day.

Mornings are usually forlorn for very good reasons. Then depending on external and internal circumstances, the afternoons get better and by evenings, everything seem to be back to normal. Until the vicious cycle begins again at night.

I've been experiencing weeks of this baffling fatigue that comes and goes as it pleases. I mean I haven't even been straining myself in any form of vigorous exercise so why is my body aching so bad and my eyes so tired? Then I think of all the other people who are in worse situations of varying pains and I feel like a whine.

Then I chanced on what Elizabeth Wurtzel wrote today: a human being can survive almost anything, as long as he sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it's impossible to ever see the end. The fog is like a cage without a key.

Such resonance with efilsidas.

It's true. In the fog, you are just searching desperately for the right way out and after umpteen attempts, you get exhausted and you want to give up. You wish you could vanish into the mist.

But somewhere in you, something rational says you got to keep going and that's what I'm doing.

Chasing daylight.

Queen - Bicycle Race

I want to ride my bicycle...I want to ride my bike.

MV's for the gf who had to bear with my irritating rendition of the song throughout the day. Also to rid her disbelief that such a perfect song exist. And not by any artiste...but Queen.

Dreams.

It's scary when you realize you no longer have them. That you want nothing else in this world. No more material bling blings. No more concrete attainments. No more perfect jobs or cold hard cash. No more fantasy vacations and shopping sprees. No more acceding to endless expectations. No more emotions. No more pain and torment. Just a gaping void that has ceased to want to be filled. It has all the blackness gushing out of it. And it can't stop.

I was just thinking the other day. If one stops craving for material, psychological and even spiritual attention, does it mean that one is ready for the doorsteps of the death? What would it mean to me to want out of breathing and actually succeed in doing so.

November rain's going to come and go. December's going to be a blink of an eye. I never expected crossing into a new year to be easy. I've had a pretty bad record of feeling strange around this time of the year. People may be sipping champagne and toasting to a new phase while I sit around trying to take in all that is happening. Torn from the past, knowing that the present will soon pass too and barely lifting my head to face the future. The unknown. A strong force that is holding me back. Yet I'm mildly pleased at making it this far, through all those freak weather, bacon shops and potholes.

Strange feeling that is.

And yet, there is a tiny voice that yearns to be heard above all the din in my head. It whispers a peace offering. It's too early for any new year resolutions but you know what it says?

"For the new year, I want to be a better person. I hope I'll be."

The next question will be: Define better.

Sometimes i just hate myself. And damn it, i really want to ride my bicycle.
